Five year transformation plan

In August 2015, NHS England asked all NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) in England to develop a local five year plan for the transformation of services that support children and young people’s emotional health and wellbeing, including Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS).

In Bristol the plan joins up health, social care, education, youth justice and voluntary services to make sure that children and young people are listened to and receive the right support, in the right place at the right time.

As part of the Government’s Future in Mind initiative, we’re looking at how we can work together to transform support we provide for children (under 18s) in Bristol in relation to emotional wellbeing and mental health.

We know that 75% of those, who have emotional and mental health issues as a child, will continue to have these as an adult. We need to break this cycle and ensure that every child, everywhere, receives the right support, as early on as possible in their lives.

We’re in the second year of Bristol’s Emotional and Mental Health Wellbeing Plan. Last year, we asked children, their families and wider stakeholders what they wanted.

This year, we’re looking at how we can work together with stakeholders to identify gaps in services, key emerging mental health and wellbeing issues and how we can work in partnership to deliver a seamless service, wherever children access help. Throughout the year there will be opportunities for you to have your say.
